The Cyber Security ‘Market’ and AI, these introductions to new hires make my spider senses go haywire!
These CRN posts always make me cringe, a ‘supposed’ subject matter expert (definitely NOT) is interviewed and provides their ‘Advice’ on where the market is going.

I am not calling out Shabeel Shah individually here but rather the messaging that goes out to industry each time a supposed expert makes a bold claim about cyber security.
The reality has not changed in its majority from before Generative AI, maybe speed to find exploits has sped up and the tools available to build a successful campaign have improved but as it is still very imperfect nothing much as changed.

Every time a new ‘visionary’ speaks out with bold claims that support their particular messaging an angel dies, Hyperbole does not have a place in cyber security, what has a place is pragmatic advice that has not changed since Generative AI became a ‘thing’ for the media and investors to overhype to oblivion.
SentineOne is a good Endpoint Security product and they are expanding their capabilities because everyone knows that Identity security is super important after the device is secure (ideally before), can’t exploit a system if you don’t have access, right?
But come on, in a position as a channel manager, are you in a position to speak about how the next big thing is and has been a part of the landscape and the vendor response for years?
As always please feel free to reach out to me if I can help in any way here
