The Holland Foundation – Melbourne
Be very very careful of this organisation and their 5 star reviews, my daughter started ‘working’ (no pay, that’s ok it was a volunteer role) for the foundation several months ago, before she started they insisted that she should pay a $150-200 deposit to be shortlisted into a role, she held her ground and did not pay. She was offered the ‘role’ after another week anyway!
Within her first week on the job she was shouted at by the owner and saw another person also being yelled at for doing something they shouldn’t (these are unpaid volunteers).
After 6-8 weeks my daughter decided to leave the organisation because it was stressful for her (no judgement on the foundation here) and this is where the trouble started, you see, after you leave you are expected to leave a 5 star review. If you do not, you will be called, you will be emailed and you will be continually harassed until you do leave a 5 star review. After 2 months away from the Holland Foundation my daughter is still getting emails “we see that you have not left a five star review, this means x or y, we will continue to contact you until you do”.
DO NOT have anything to do with these guys unless you are ok with being harassed infront of others, and are happy to leave a 5 star review regardless of your experience. They may do good things for the community but somehow trying ti charge at 18 year old $150 to become a volunteer more quickly really gets to me. I will also be writing this up on my blog as the Holland Foundation is removing reviews from here.

See below for the negative reviews, notice one thing how the “likes” are much much higher than the above positive reviews, my opinion is that this is because a volunteer will be harassed for a negative review so they have no choice but to give 5 stars.
Be very careful about volunteering here and feel free to reach out if I can help, because maybe they just need some assertive people who will not back down but my feeling is that a certain character type is prayed on here by the foundation.
