Kasaya CEO says MSP’s will benefit by Vendor Consolidation?

Interesting comments by Kasaya’s CEO, 10% profit margin is certainly dangerously low and I would hope that there are not many MSP’s operating here. BTW, if you are #Crayon can help you, this is what we like doing most and it is what we do best, building stronger MSP businesses.

There is always an ulterior motive behind statements such as this and for Kasaya, they have spent a lot of money on acquisitions of tools to build their security stack. Acquisition does not equal “real single pane of glass” management though and typically integrations will be minimal and barely functional – because it costs a lot of money to re-architect a solution that was probably written in different lnaguages with different API’s etc etc.

My Thoughts

I respectfully disagree that Vendor consolidation will necessarily reduce costs through simplified management and other areas, where the consolidation is at a “Marketecture” level and not through actual integration “Architecture” because most of the time acquisitions of tools do not lead to much integration and partnerships do not bring many integrations either, after all product development is expensive.

Kicksec’s advice

Identify what you need to provide your SMB clients (Identity Security, Device Management, Device Security, Email Security and data Security), what are the products within a “vendor stack” and what are the integrations and how are they talk to one another, because these are the areas where security vulnerabilities come up, updating one product means the product at the other side of the integration can no longer “speak together” until it is updated etc etc – vendors get acquired, products get defocused.

In Summary

There are some really good solution integrations, but check whether the integration is Architecture or Marketecture – I am not calling out Kasaya here as I have not looked at their stack just a general FYI.

As always reach out here if we can help in any way.
